Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies
In honor of National Chocolate Chip Cookie Week, here are yummy, delicious brown butter chocolate chip cookies. I love brown butter for the extra caramel-like flavor it gives.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup or 1 stick butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/4 cup flour
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Method:
First, to brown the butter, melt in small sauce pan or pot over medium heat. Bring to a simmer and remove from heat once it just turns brown in color and is fragrantly caramelized. Cool back to room temperature, or almost a solid.
In mixing bowl, cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Meanwhile, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Then, add egg and vanilla to butter sugar mixture, mix just until combined. Scrape, and slowly add flour mixture, scraping down sides if needed and mixing again just until combine. Scrape bowl one more time and gently stir in chocolate chips. Chill in fridge for 10 - 15 minutes.
While dough is chilling, preheat oven to 325. Line baking sheet(s) with parchment paper. Scoop cookies evenly, 1 - 2 inches apart. Bake 10 - 12 minutes, just until golden. Yields 12 large or 24 small. Cool and enjoy!
